This is not your ordinary end-of-summer S*O*E CD. "They've Gone Maaaaddd...."
State Of Enchantment has been making music since 1989, and has grown and progressed through 18 years of performances and recordings. Often called "The Little Band That Could", S*O*E was a pioneer in the progressive rock genre, with a style mixing good-time classic rock with jazz and classical elements, forming a kind of accessible fusion music. Through almost two decades, S*O*E music has remained fun to hear and often surprising.
"RAVE" (2007) is their latest release. It comes just 9 months after the wonderful and deep "Witness Tree" CD, and it is quite a different animal!
"RAVE" opens with "Funky Guitar": many fans have waited a long time for this great song to be recorded, and it comes across just like at a live show. Another long-awaited recording on this CD is "Genius Child", which caused such a sensation everywhere the band played it a few years ago; this version has all the best elements that developed from many performances, a real 'definitive' version, although live this is one tune that always seems to take off.
"Old School" is big-venue rock as only S*O*E does it: meaty, beaty, cool and smooth as an ice cube going down. Then, meet "Fatback" George Jedson and learn about his
odyssey from his Montana birthplace into the world of music. And on it goes, 14 tracks of grinding pounding locomotion to places both familiar and far-flung.
Also on this CD are "Drop The Beat" (written for 2006 school instrument demonstration team) and "Dance Until Dawn" (written for Provenance Camerata 2007 - but here in a
rock band arrangement instead of the original orchestral version). "Fourteen - Double Keys" first performed at over a dozen schools as part of the 2007 school instrument
demonstration program; the main riff is 14 beats long and the song features no guitars, just two keyboards, bass and drums.

The group has also released "Saturnalia" in 2005, "In Media Res" in 2004, "Mesculine" in 2001, "New Vision Café" in 1998, "Sweet Daddy's Back" in 1995, "Diogenes" in 1993,
"With Love" and "Hard Blue Night" in 1991, and "Live Studio" in 1990.
