Notes

UK Guitarist Magazine described Si Hayden as an acoustic virtuoso on the release of his previous solo effort 'Supercharger'. Silvery Records present Si Hayden's 25th album 'Don't Fret' his 10th Solo guitar album since 1998 sustaining the usual non-overdubbed one-take format (these one-takes were captured on Si's studio-cam at www.youtube.com/simonhayden) This is no ordinary solo guitar album, on all 12 tracks the guitar had no frets, thus making this the only solo fretless acoustic fingerstyle guitar album available to buy.

Biography: Si Hayden: Self taught multi-instrumentalist and guitarist for Joe O'Donnell (SonyBMG/East of Eden/Rory Gallagher), a founder member of 91db (Noble England single with Comedian Rik Mayall/Motivation Records), one third of jazz trio Morley Hayden Haines(Performed at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2009), guitarist for Verity Pabla (Envision Entertainment Group/USA) performs extensively as a solo instrumentalist having just released a 25th album but has appeared on over 40 including guitar compilations with Bumblefoot (Guns 'n' Roses), Christophe Godin and Dave Martone (Satriani). Si has performed with likes of singer-songwriter Rob Halligan on BBC1 TV, collaborated live with Mobo award winner Soweto Kinch and composed soundtracks for Film, BBC Radio 4 and the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

Reviews: "Coventry acoustic virtuoso Si Hayden has experimented in a variety of unconventional musical contexts - from live drum 'n' bass and jazz to Celtic and Spanish classical - than this solo-guitar instrumental outing lets on. All the songs were recorded on a resonator and. impressively, it was all done in just a single take. His technique shows the fingerprints of other musical forms, but for the most part, it's a mixture of blues and folk staples - with alternate picking, slide and percussive slaps evident throuout. Hayden wrings the most out the resonator's steely attack, offering up a bevy of harmonics and rhythmic possibillities along the way. Its no small feat to walk the line between accessible melody and fleet-fingered flash as expertly as this"('The Guitar Players Bible' Guitarist Magazine)

"20th CD by Coventry guitar ace Si Hayden. 'Live at the Hinckley Act Folk Club' captures Si at his mesmerising best at the unusual venue which regularly features such top guitarists as Gordon Giltrap and Michael Chapman. A prolific recording artist since 1998, Si’s last live solo guitar album was recorded at the 2005 Coventry Jazz Festival."(Pete Willow/Coventry Telegraph)

"Si’s fantastic technique and style on the guitar always goes down a storm at the festival and it was great to welcome him back!"(Chris Davis/Cov Jazz Fest)
"A classical Spanish style guitarist, who will blow you away with his jazz, latin and funk infused songs. How he manages it all on just a 6 string guitar still amazes us. You will have to see him to believe it!(AcousticLounge, Clapham)

"Si Hayden with Michael Berk deliver an acoustic pearl called Tango Schizophrenia"(Dmitry M. Epstein, Let it Rock on 'The Alchemist's Vol II')

"Hayden is a very acomplished guitarist, with a good range of styles and moods."(fROOTS Magazine on 'Sabaca')

"It's really nice to hear new music with real musicians, Si's work is just great, the double bass playing is spot on... it really sounds like the musicians overstood the poetry. Nice one."(Performance Poet Benjamin Zephaniah on 'Backra Men')
