Description
Eclectic hip hop album on acid, a cross between Moby and Massive Attack with a little Dr. Dre sprinkled on top.
Notes
Funny thing.....this budding Hip Hop producers much-anticipated debut album, is not your expected guest star compilation type album. Instead it's found to be a heart felt deep Nu-Jazz ride. In the powerful opener, "Un Habitual Perfectionist," Skeeter J feeds both the empirical and the creative minds alike. On the album only calabo "Always Something" Hip Hop newcomer Jyant grapples with the struggles of his developing career, and creates a hip hop song that is sure to be loved by trip hop heads.
As the album deepens, the songs "Ara", "So Real", and "Finesse" are clearly the pulse accelerating power songs of the album. "Gumbo" another buzz-worthy track, will stand alone as the album most creative set. Meanwhile, the vibrant single, "Psalm 20three" is strong enough on it's own to make this album worth buying. "Psalm20three" draws on a heavy but soothing piano grouping, and perfectly marries it to a powerful yet melodic drum pattern that will have you leaving this song on repeat for days.
Un Habitual Perfectionist proves to be a successful debut! While sweeping aside those HIP HOP PRODUCER comparisons, the album embraces a massive, moving sound that makes the simplicity of Nu-Jazz seem sublime. This collection of music is sure to please the die-hard Nu-Jazz community while allowing dedicated Hip Hop listeners an escape from the mind-numbing state of Hip Hop. Un Habitual Perfectionist was a long time in coming but it sure to be worth every bit of the wait.
