Notes
When Calgary trio Serotonin Crush step onto a stage, they only have one goal in mind - That each and every audience member is smiling and humming at least one Serotonin Crush song long after the last note is played. That goal certainly isn’t unattainable. This Alberta band knows how to write a catchy tune, and their live shows are fun, exciting and energetic. On Serotonin Crush’s sophomore CD "Time & Space", songs crackle with energy and sparkle with melody, yet there is substance to the lyrics and a richness to its modern pop-rock sound. The propulsive rhythm section, consisting of drummer Bill Zembiak and bassist Jeremy Spencer both drive and centre the album’s 8 tracks, while singer Ryan Farkas’ sweeping guitar hooks lift each song, captivating the listener. Serotonin Crush formed in 2009, when high school friends Ryan and Jeremy reconnected. Ryan then drafted in Bill, with whom he had played in a few local bands over the years. Within a few months Serotonin Crush was playing to sold out rooms and getting radio play on radio stations across Canada. The band’s blend of rock (think Blink 182 meets Foo Fighters), and Goo Goo Dolls-style melodic power-pop is radio-friendly and accessible, it’s by no means lightweight. Recorded in Jeremy’s home studio, Serotonin Crush’s sophomore album captures the band’s broad musical tastes and background. But it’s their live show that has left fans across Alberta wanting more. “Whether there’s 500 people or 50,000, we give our live shows the same high energy every time,” explains Jeremy. “We appreciate all the hard-working people out there who take the time to come out and support us". Serotonin Crush will be heading out on the road playing festivals and clubs around the world.
