Honee Comb Records was founded in 1994, by Jason Brown. Honee Comb was one of the first independent rap/r&b label in St.Louis. We set trends all over St.louis in the late 90’s as one of the first to make promo tee shirts, lighters, pens & pencils, jackets, posters and bumper stickers. The label grow to 9 artist & about 20 staff members, by the time the second Compilation album release Honee Comb Records was the premier Rap/R&B label in the area. Being the flamboyant business man he was Jason landed a distribution deal with Qwest records in 2000. unfortunately two day before the signing of the deal Jason was shoot and killed for unknown sketchy reasons, a year after the release of STL’S Finest Compilation Vol 1 in 1999. After the unexpected death of Jason the label members went their separate ways.
With the label on thin ice ( Jason’s brother ) Anthony Brown and one of the labels artist SanDaDon put the label on their back and is determined not to let the legacy fade. In 2006 SanDaDon released his solo album ( Da-M PIRE ), which sold over 1200 units just in St.louis, with no radio play, no deal & a $3,500 budget. That was just a test run to get the labels engine running again & believe me the gas tank is full and the pedal is to the metal for 07 & 08. The streets know HONEE COMB & they defiantly know SANDADON the premier artist for Honee Comb Records.
Now, the New release from SanDaDon the second album ( DA-MAYOR/ KEY 2 DA CITY ) is the most anticipated album from the streets of St.louis period. With the HIT single HELLA TIGHT leading the way, you’ll know way SAN is so HELLA TIGHT. The way he delivers his lyrics over a track is UNBELIEVEBLE The album is full of Ghetto Knowledge from a professor of Streetalogy introducing a swag to the game never before seen in the industry. He don’t claim to be rich or sell drugs to buy rims, his street hustle realities are about the struggle to do better. His stage performance is what tells it all. With a straight in your face delivery he brings his words to life on stage. He command your attention and puts the audience in his realm of emotion while performing. Its rare you get the full package in an artist & project, writes own songs, tracks are banging, untouched stage performance, marketable (looks good), creative as hell, and on top of all that he’s the V.P of the label. Along with C.E.O of the label Anthony Brown and C.O.O Keecie Powell , Honee Comb is not the next big thing, it is the big thing.
