Notes
Scott Darlow is an Aboriginal singer, songwriter guitar playing didgeridoo playing man from Yorta Yorta country, who lives in Melbourne Victoria. Passionate about his Aboriginal heritage, he plays in clubs/pubs/bars, high schools, Churches and even prisons all over Australia, Asia (Darlow has toured Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and China extensively) The USA (Scott has toured America 20 times for up to 3 months at a time and has played shows literally all over the country) and Africa, using his music to connect, educate and inspire people to be passionate about Aboriginal culture and reconciliation. Scott Darlow is a proud spokesman and advocate for World Vision Australia's indigenous program, "Linking Hands"
Scott Darlow put together his first album, 'Be With You', leaning heavily on producer David Carr's guitar rock chops. Having started playing the trumpet at the age of 5, and sticking with it passionately until his late teens, recording and producing a guitar driven record was a steep learning curve. But by the time his second album came out in early 2005 ("Underground") through doing literally hundreds and hundreds of shows with his band at the time "The Darlow Show", he had really nailed down his vibe and sound. A live recording, acoustic driven pop rock sound that had been shaped from years of listening to his Dads Beatles, Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac vinyls. While this album is rough and young sounding, it sold in excess of 15,000 physical copies, purely at gigs and funded Darlow's full time touring that see's him play 200 shows a year.
His next studio album wasn't until 2011. By this time, Darlow had gone solo from his band and released 'All I Am', This album was more adventurous. It saw him use a bunch of acoustic guitars (both 6 and 12 string) percussion (Cajon, timpani's and other varied instruments) and old school rhodes and Hammond organs. Working with good friend Gavin Chan, this record was released late 2011 and has sold in excess of 5000 copies as an independent artist. This record Darlow says was always intended to be a chilled acoustic album.
Late 2012 saw Darlow take on his biggest tour to date, playing 32 shows all over Australia with Grammy nominated Aussie singer songwriter Paul Colman, and American singer (frontman of te band Stellar Kart) Adam Agee. With his unique live performance that see's him using a loop pedal as well as his didgeridoo and guitar, Darlow played to packed theatres and rooms all over Australia. The tour, named "Our Backyard" was used by Darlow to raise awareness and funds for World Visions Linking Hands program.
Since the release of All I am, in between touring, Scott has been working away at releasing his next studio album. This record see's Darlow's maturity as a songwriter, and his sound get bigger. A fully produced guitar rock album that he has recorded with producer Dave Starr in LA, and finishing off with Melbourne legend Adrian Hannan. The first single off the record is the only cover on it, a version of the Goanna classic "Solid Rock". A fresh and rocking version that see's Darlow sing the track as a duet with original writer/singer Shane Howard. Other songs on the record such as "Sorry" and "Down Like Fly's" speak of Darlow's passion for his people and the need for true reconciliation.
With tours of Australia and the USA and Asia already booked to promote the new record, Darlow is expecting this album to win him new fans the world over, and in turn be able to use his voice to educate and inspire people to bring change and hope for his people.
