Notes
The debut album from "PREPARED OR NOT" by SCARELLY MOE is a smash hit. It is a cross between Tupac's "ALL EYES ON ME" and Biggie's "READY TO DIE". SCARELLY MOE sound like a continuation of the greats. For those who say, "hip hop is dead" better think again. "PREPARED OR NOT" is an elevation of great musical creativity.
SCARELLY MOE is definitely prepared on his debut album, "PREPARED OR NOT". He establishes himself as one of the most creative street correspondents to bless the mic. The lead single "NO WHERE" (featuring MeMe) with it's explosive, sharp sound effects and warm raising timphany drum is true to the spirit of the album. The sound effects are lush, accessible, sample-laden constructions that serve as perfect backdrops to SCARELLY MOE's many musings on love, life and everyday challenges of the grind. "PREPARED OR NOT" is filled with hits, the best of these are "No Where", "With Me", "Ruff Times", "Feelin' You", "Smoke Em'", "Gamin'" and "Flyaway". But SCARELLY MOE is also well suited for party singles like
"U, A Star Na" and "U & Me" (Featuring MeMe & Loch).
"PREPARED OR NOT", finds SCARELLY MOE superb artistically. Spitting with a vengeance and maturity, SCARELLY MOE shows lyrical dexterity on the SCARELLY MOE-produced "MULA" and comes into one of his many own rhymes styles. On this personal track, SCARELLY MOE flirts with death as he throw darts at the system. He spits, "F*@# trying to get a job/get scrilly/I'm dying in this rap $#!/Like Pac and Biggie/ Cursed in my last days/it's different/My broad so nasty/she switch hitting/Baby got bad ways/I ain't kidding/She lick it so crafty/I't for bidden!
SCARELLY MOE then switches gears with Christopher Starr for the club-jumping "With Me" and elevates his player status on the lady-grabbing "Take It Off," which could put HOT RECORDZ on the map. Showing he can stand solo, SCARELLY MOE featured several guest appearances on which everyone held they're own. Stepping into a lyrical cipher with Pezzy Raw and Lo Scurv, SCARELLY MOE show that he can get down and grimy too on "Multiply."
With impressive production, SCARELLY MOE put together a masterpiece solo release on "PREPARED OR NOT" as he brilliantly displays his originality. He shows he has a lot of love for rap as an art form and hip hop as a whole. SCARELLY MOE dug deep when he went to the studio, delivering a solid debut project and proving he's worthiness.
