Notes
At this juncture, a desperate lnocentes called Ricky Tarriela—and tried to talk him into joining Rubberband as a drummer. He even went as far as having Ricky listen to a demo over the phone. Ricky liked the songs, and agreed to join Rubberband—provided he plays bass instead. So came drummer Rommel de Leon (ex Cool Rockin' Daddies and Daisychain) who’s a big fan of The Stones’ Charlie Watts’ and Ringo Starr’s minimalist but distinctive style of playing. This lineup, plus Wendell, became solid in just a few weeks – they easily became staples in mostly Filipino-oriented expos, Filipino bars, and birthday parties in New York City and New Jersey. (Wendell, however, got kicked out of the band before they recorded their first EP as a post-CSI Rubberband.)
According to lnocentes, the materials that he recorded with Ricky and Rommel (after Wendell left) were “more pop but edgy, and the kind of songs that will most likely end up as your Mother's and girlfriend's favorites.” From that point, there’s no stopping the Rubberband. What ensued was vintage lnocentes songwriting overdrive: They cut the self -produced EP "Pearl Prudence and Her Rubbermind Songs" (1997).
