Joe Kidd & Sheila Burke are serious about their work and their mission. In less than three years they have received the prestigious Detroit Music Award for Songwriters Of The Year two years in a row. Track six on this CD 'Soldiers In The Army Of Mercy And Peace' received the Global Music Award for Outstanding Folk Song in July 2015. Joe & Sheila were presented onstage during their set at 'Concert Of Colors' with the Michigan Governor's Award for their work to promote peace, social justice, and diversity among cultures.
After touring twelve states and two countries, these international, award winning, artists have produced "one of the best records of 2015" according to Blitz Magazine.
The influences here are obvious without naming names or making comparisons. This music is original and new. Its essence is truth & beauty.
The 12 songs were artfully and patiently recorded in Royal Oak Michigan at SoundScape Studios by Tim Smith.
They were remixed in Burbank California at Mad Dog Studios by the one and only Dusty Wakeman (Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, Jim Lauderdale, Lucinda Williams ...)
They were mastered brilliantly at Universal Studios in Los Angeles California by Peter Doell (Frank Sinatra, Joan Baez ...)
