Notes

This was Roger's first CD with the small Nashville label, (Entro Records), and was recorded in 1996, so he chose to record (5) five songs of artists who had a huge impact on him, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Kenny Hinson, Hank Williams along with (5) five self penned songs.
"A Bit Like Texas" is a Western Swing song he wrote as a tribute to the King of Western Swing Bob Wills from a cowboy's point of view hoping there will be Western Swing music in heaven.
"In My Next Life" was released to Christian Country radio peaking at #24. His father passed away in March of 1994 & Merle Haggard's version had just been released to radio, & this song really spoke to not only Roger, but also to his mother during this time of loss, so much that "In My Next Life, I Want To Be Your Hero" are inscribed on his father's headstone. Ruthie Steele a music promoter & the sister to Max D. Barnes the writer of this song had received some of Roger's cd's to do some radio promotion, she called Roger & asked him if he knew who wrote the song, & of course Roger did, she told Roger, Max is my brother & Roger then told her about having the songs title inscribed in his father's headstone & Ruthie asked for pictures to show Max. To date Roger has recorded (7) seven cd's and has written (55) fifty- five of the (74) seventy four songs he's recorded.
Being a huge Merle Haggard fan, in April 2008 Roger and his band Christian Country had the honor of playing two concerts with Marty Haggard, Merle's oldest son, one in Escalon, CA and one in Roger's hometown of Chowchilla, CA.
As a child growing up and reading the liner notes of all the musicians on all the gospel and country records his parents would buy, Roger never dreamed that years later he would be working in the Nashville studios with people such as Sonny Garrish, Hargus "Pig" Robbins, Larry Paxton, Glen Duncan just to name a few.
