Description
The debut album from Swedish born ambient artist, Robin Danderkindt, reminiscent of the ambient work of Brian Eno and Steve Roach.
Notes
Robin Danderkindt hails from Tibro, Sweden, but now calls Brooklyn, NY home. This is his debut album, and is sure to become a favorite in the ambient music genre. Combining elements of Brian Eno's seminal ambient masterpiece, Thursday Afternoon, as well as a hint of Steve Roach's Immersion series, Baobab is mesmerizing from beginning to end. The 28 minute title track features ambient street noise from a New York City summer night, blended with multiple other layers of drones and ambient noise, as well as a very Eno-like watery and sparse piano part. Two shorter tracks, "Serif" and "Eclipse" surround the long and dreamy track, "Kuka," perhaps the album's most tranquil and serene track. The album closes on a rather ominous note with the 22 minute "Darkening," which features dark tamboura-like drones, a highly diffused choir of monks chanting, howling wolves and an ominous clanging church bell.
This album will delight fans of the ambient genre and makes for a perfect late night listening experience. Highly recommended.
