WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT ‘MAKING FACES’
“I love this CD! It’s something my daughter and I can share. It’s funny and catchy and I’d buy it even if I didn’t have children.” -Shared Vision
“With his careful choice of themes, detail to music orchestrations and original songwriting, Rick is creating some of the most exciting and fresh children’s music today. He educates with such an entertaining flair that kids won’t mind if they’re learning something. Another outstanding feature is the 16 page booklet which is a joy to go through while listening.” -Fred Koch, Chicago Parent
"Canada leads the world in children's music and Rick Scott sits right on top. Rick's music speaks to kids and their parents and to me. It's delightful, educational, accessible and innovative. It's funny, clever and warm. It's not only important to Canadian music--it's essential." -Jurgen Gothe, CBC Radio
1. SONG FOR MY DEAREST FRIEND is a classical Brechtian fanfare inspired by a postcard from a young friend.
2,. MAKING FACES is a participatory novelty tune complete with medical facts and the First Official Facial Aerobic Olympics.
3. SONG FOR AUSTRALIA is Rick’s personal greeting to Australia, featuring ancient ants, plumbing tips and everything he knew about the country before he toured there.
4. DO-OVERS Musical comedy meets hip hop in this song about second chances.
5. KITTY COW This classically inspired novelty tune contains excerpt of Mozart and Strauss plus a grumpy neighbour and New Orleans style parade.
6. BREWERY CREEK is a bluegrass tribute to a creek buried under Rick’s Vancouver home.
7. DON’T KNOW BLUES is a walking blues for the times when ‘you feel that your old heart just stubbed its toe.’
8. PURPE ELEPHANT Once upon a time in Bangkok there was a little boy with a purple crayon. One day an elephant came to visit his school…
9. I SPEAK DUCK This bilingual novelty tune began when Rick bought a duck call and discovered the ducks were answering him back. The French verse is sung by amazing Piaf inspired chanteuse Joelle Rabu.
10. YO MO CONCERTO This historically accurate hip hop introduction to Mozart is Rick’s most requested song around the world. ‘YO MO, come on Amadeus, what you gonna play us?’ Written for performance with the Vancouver Symphony.
11. GET WELL CARD was written to help a friend’s mother get better.
