A NOTE FROM SANDRA
This kind of music - music for the soul, or what Rex affectionately calls our "woo woo music" is a very important part of both our spiritual journey and our creative process as musicians. This music literally poured out through us. Our dear friend, singer/songwriter Pat McDonald often says that he didn't write any of his huge catalogue of inspirational songs.. that he just wrote them down. That's really what this process has been like for us. "Let Go" was the first song - and it just poured out, words and music... and that started it. Then almost immediately, we began writing what we knew would become an entire album, very quickly. And not just an album a 15 song, hour long album! And it has... 15 songs and 5 months later - here we are at the end of this creative process - ready to set the music free! It has been a blast creating it and now we can't wait for you to hear it!

WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT REX MILLER AND SANDRA CAVANAUGH AND LET GO

"I have never heard anything like this. It's so many things rolled into one! it's entertaining, and yet, enlightening. I love it for the music, I love it for the messages. It's soothing sometimes and makes me want to dance or laugh other times. And the more I listen, the more 'Ah ha' moments, I have! " Cassia Peaseman

"Sandra's voice is only equaled by Rex's exquisite playing." Danica Green

"They have almost magical connection with the audience through the music. Between the way Rex alternately romances and teases the notes from his keyboard and the vibrant expressiveness of Sandy’s amazing voice they take us to ‘another place.’ " Marian and Jim Luzzi

"There is laughter, sweetness, and powerful awareness, along with some very cool tunes! Check them out!"
Reverend Rachel Hollander

SANDRA'S STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS
Rex and I love the blues. That's why most of the uptempo songs on here are bluesy. Because when we write "inspirational songs" we write them with a mind toward the service at CSL - we tend to write 3 groups of songs - to fit the three spots in the service. The Heart Songs (like OM, Namaste', Quiet Heart, In The Now and In The Magic Of The Moment) intended to literally open the heart and prepare the listener to open up to the present moment.
2) The Ballads (You Lift Me Up, Heaven Knows, The Heart Of Every Child, Let Go, Love Is)
3) The Up Beat (It's Time, Happy For No Reason, Magic Happens, A Peace Of Our Own, Responsible)

LET GO - I wrote this one and brought it to Rex, and that really started this album. I wrote this song as counsel to myself in response to a situation in my life where a former colleague and friend had chosen a course of anger, hate and revenge... In the midst of the chaos I needed to remind myself of the truth.

YOU LIFT ME UP: This was a song that I started as a love song to Rex. But, if you knew Rex, you would know... he's a pretty private person... a love song - to him - was not something he was going to work on! So... I realized that with a slight tweaking of the lyric the song became a love song to God. The lyrics have retained an ambiguity and could be a love song to a person or to God, whatever the listener feels it as - But just between you and me... it's all about Rex.

IN THE MAGIC OF THE MOMENT: This was the first "Heart Song" we wrote. It just fell out of me... right after Let Go. I like sharing this song with a congregation full of people... because I really do believe that "...in the magic of that moment, if our hearts are open wide, we can feel the thread inside, that connects us all as one."

A PEACE OF OUR OWN: This is the one I call our 'sassy' song. And I love the sassy drums that Lawson Hill plays on this one. (I love everything Lawson plays! Wait till you hear the drums on It's Time! But, I digress...) I also love word play. AND, I am really big on the concept of each of us needing to find our own peace - it doesn't come from someone else, or something else. And our power and our peace of mind are not something that can be taken away by someone else -" One man gettin' stronger, doesn't make another weak. The only power we lose is the kind we give away!"

LOVE IS: When this one came to me... as most songs do... in my car... I wasn't sure it was going to work. It seemed a little precious, at first, even for me.... But once Rex got ahold of it musically and wrote the bridge... that really made the song. And now, people tell me all the time that it's their favorite.

HEAVEN KNOWS: This song probably taught me the most about what I really think. It sprang from a late night conversation Rex and I had... we can often be found sitting after dinner, with a glass of wine.. debating something spiritual or philosophical... yep, that's our idea of a festive evening! Anyway, the subject came up of the popular expression "It's all good." And, even though I am a card carrying Pollyanna, I had to confess - I don't believe that. I really really think it's silly for people to be standing in the midst of awful stuff, trying to tell themselves "It's all good!" NO IT'S NOT! However, it is all perfect. It is always a perfect opportunity for growth and awareness. - and by the way - if it was all good... it would be a little boring....
