Here is an artist of deep human understanding, a supreme vocalist who communicates at very many levels. This CD has much to offer; you have some of New England’s best jazz musicians and songwriters together with a vocalist, who can create the excitement and soul reminiscent of those consummate song stylists who dared walk the line between emotion and technique. There are also seven new compositions on "Love At Last", which are so well crafted that they become inseparable from the selection of standards on this CD. The arrangements, are prosodic accompaniments. Rebecca's interpretations, showcase her rich, sultry tones, and are soulful, sexy, and powerful.
Your journey begins with an intimate, piano/vocal "You Don't Know What Love Is", written by Raye/DePaul; and ends with the title song, "Love At Last", a very original, completely satisfying ballad, written by Jack Perricone (Chair Songwriting/ Berklee College of Music) for Rebecca. The second cut is a new jazz/blues composition titled, "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell". Roger Kelloway, on piano, Jay Leonhardt on Bass, Clark Terry on Drums, and Ralph Rosen on Harmonica round out the exceptional group backing Rebecca’s interpretation of the song’s cutting lyrics. You're bound to go deeper with the tenor sax solos by Greg Badolato along side Rebecca's vocal nuances, on "For John", a tribute to Coltrane, and "You Won't Be Coming Back"-Nicoll/Perricone. The up-tempo cuts include "The Jazz In You", Dixon/Towns, and "You Make Up For It All", Perricone/Glazer- Check out "It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This"- so cool and smoky. Other Standards on the CD include "Autumn In NY", and "What A Difference A Day Makes".
