Description
A tasteful fusion of classical sound with modern sensibilities, Rebecca's music will soothe your soul.
Notes
Rebecca gave her first vocal performance at the age of 10 with her brothers and sisters as the Musical Zimmer Family, in central California. Her musical education began with her mother teaching piano and father teaching voice to all six children. Each child chose a second instrument and, for Rebecca, it was the cello.
Several of her brothers and sisters went on to careers in classical music, while Rebecca chose contemporary music and writing as her focus. After singing in numerous studio bands in the Los Angeles area, including working as an entertainer on Norwegian Cruise Lines, she began focusing more on writing and working with professional voices as a voice therapist, obtaining her Masters Degree in speech language pathology. She currently performs with a contemporary group, “Mary's Manhattans,” and plays cello in a string quartet, “Belo Som,” in the San Diego area.
“Each song on this CD was written with a specific purpose, from the song I wrote for my husband for our wedding day, to my parents' anniversary, for my children and my godchild. I write best with specific people in mind, and for specific events” Rebecca explains. “My brother, Stephen, has drawers full of music that he wrote and now some of these are getting heard in this collaboration.” Stephen and Rebecca's music is a blend of rich vocal harmonies with piano, interweaved with lush cello lines and soaring violin.
This CD is a culmination of personal original songs written by Rebecca and her brother, Stephen C. Zimmer, inspired by life, family and friends. The joyful to bittersweet melodies touch the heart with thoughtful lyrics. With inspiring piano by Stephen, close vocal harmonies and cello lines by Rebecca, and charming violin touches by sister, Juliana, this music will touch the heart.
