"Amsterdam meets New Tango" is the brilliant collaboration between Buenos Aires Tango Jazz pianist/composer Pablo Ziegler and the Amsterdam-based Metropole Orkest. Pablo Ziegler is known as much for his many years as pianist, music director and collaborator with the legendary Tango bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla as for his own groundbreaking, Tango genre-expanding compositions.
On this recording, Pablo Ziegler and his trio featuring guitarist Quique Sinesi and bandoneonst Walter Castro are augmented by the Uruguyan percussionist Quintino Cinalli.
In a unique partnership, Pablo Ziegler and his group are performing here with the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley, in new arrangements of several compositions of Mr Ziegler's concert repertoire specifically written for the Orchestra.
