Description
"this reading [of Mahler's 5th] was characterised by force of will and an overall sweep that was totally captivating." - The Straits Times
Notes
Mahler’s symphonies tell great stories of life, death and beyond. None do it with more melody, romance, or epic sweep than the Fifth. It traces a huge emotional arc through darkness and emotional turbulence, to heady optimism and humour. It is one of music's greatest odysseys, containing Viennese waltzes, funeral marches and the tender, exquisitely poignant Adagietto, used in Visconti’s film Death in Venice.
