Notes
For some of us music is more than just the soundtrack in the background of a good buzz. To some of us, probably most of us, music is a part of our soul - some mystical part of our essence that we cannot define with words alone.
Specifically for me it’s a large part of my identity and my father helped me realize that many years ago when I almost gave up this dream. I’m so glad Iistened to him bc now I have a sense of purpose that is larger and will last longer than my life. I have a beautiful daughter who means everything to me. Music is a part of her identity as well. She lost one of her best friends in a car wreck a few years ago. In an attempt to reach out to her lost friend she wrote her a song. The song is titled “See You tomorrow”. It was the last 3 words she ever heard her friend say. The pain I have experienced watching her grieve has left me feeling helpless at times. But it gave me a glimpse of what her pain will be like when I pass away and that vision haunts me. Most of us carry the pain of losing a loved one. There is a song that whenever we hear it, we feel close to that lost loved one. Which leads me to this… Music is a huge part of my soul and I’ve done my best to put all of my heart & soul right here into this album for my loved ones. The CD is called “It’s just me” bc it literally is just me, but it’s more than music. The title track to this record… track 11 is an honest attempt to connect with my little girl after I’m long gone. This song is the entire reason I began writing this record. Many have related to this in their own way. I hope it brings you some comfort as well. This album is the beginning of my legacy. In order to fully express myself I had to do everything myself. I play all the instruments you hear on this record. i wrote/produced/engineered/mixed/mastered all the songs on this album. It's all part of who I am. It's Just Me. For more info check out - www.michaellayneband.com -or- facebook.com/michaellayneband
