Description
After a career in teaching English, Mike pulled out some songs he'd written earlier, wrote some new ones, and recorded them as a collection of mostly rock songs, including some blues and country, most with an emphasis on his lyrical message.
Notes
Mike has always loved writing songs, and his job teaching English meant he could easily incorporate teaching poetry with songwriting. He and his wife, Debbie, and son, M.J., played as a weekend cover band (FourPlay, Dejavu,) for many years before Mike retired and focused on his original songs with original messages. Mike's strongest influences have been John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, Eric Clapton, and J.J. Cale, so some of their influences are heard in his music. "Reflections" is an eclectic mix of rock, blues, and country songs recorded and mixed by Mike in his studio, along with Debbie on keyboards and background vocals, and M.J. on drums, percussion, and background vocals. Mike handled all the guitar, bass, and lead vocal work. The final album was professionally mastered by Bruce Bartlett/BartlettAudio. Hope you enjoy it!
