Description

American funky and bluesy acoustic guitar, on a collision course with the the music of western Europe and the Balkans.

Notes

Mike Horowitz released his first solo album in 2001, combining all the music he loves to play on acoustic guitar. His influences range from Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed to modern fingerstylists like Al Petteway and Robin Bullock. In Mike's playing you can also hear echoes of the minimal music of composers like Steve Reich, and a chance encounter with the Swiss remixer and DJ "Tyce" led to a crazy collaboration of acoustic guitar, beats and scratching, and jazz saxophone.

Mike's love of Balkan and Klezmer music led to his later work together with the renowned Dutch folk violinist Monique Lansdorp. the first recorded fruits of their music together are well represented here. Check out Monique's and Mike's playing on the albums "Bessarabian Groove" and "Thank You", featuring the soulful singing of Mike's daughter Selina Horowitz. Both of these titles are available on CDBaby.
