Notes
For over 12 years, Matthew Raetzel has written original music in various mediums. Hailing from the outskirts of the greater Detroit area, he began his life in music at age 13 when he purchased a drum set. For the next 9 years, he performed in various rock and heavy metal groups, eventually taking prominent interest in performing guitar and piano.
In 2008, Matthew took interest in using his passion in a new medium--film. He began studying classical composition, orchestration, and recording production, and their relationship within the art of film. Since then, he has written original scores for 2 full length features, 7 short films, 2 television pilots, and various Internet shorts and trailers. His work has appeared in numerous film festivals and TV shows, including the Hollywood Black Film Festival, the Detroit 48-Hour Film Festival, Festival De Cannes, and Syfy's original show Viral Video Showdown.
More recently, Matthew has focused on writing and publishing various original compositions for film, TV, advertising, movie trailers, and video games. He is also writing a series of short concert works for local Michigan orchestras.
