Description

Guitar-driven slice of hard-edged pop

Notes

BIRMINGHAM, UK, band Material Project release the first single off their new album, ‘Dokumenta’.

The duo, Adrian Kimberlin and Matthew J. Bliss, have arranged, mixed and produced the flagship offering, ‘Resistance’ over two intensive years.

This opening single, in keeping with ‘Dokumenta’, displays a more direct rock sound than debut album ‘Immersed’, which the UK's NME described as Muse meets Jeff Buckley. However, it maintains much of Material Project’s trademark pin-sharp production, twists and turns.

Of the forthcoming release, Adrian says: “Resistance is a guitar driven slice of hard-edged pop, addressing the emotional conflict involved in remaining in a dysfunctional, yet sexually-charged relationship.”

Debut album, ‘Immersed’ was released in October 2005, which is also available at CD Baby.

Reviews of ‘Immersed’:

 “….more layers than an award-winning trifle and a dizzying smorgasbord of styles from elegantly floaty folk to lengthy deep space prog rock work-outs.... Part Radiohead, part Roxy Music, part pre-menstrual Muse….” (Overplay – July 2006)

 “….It’s an all-encompassing journey; ranging from uplifting and anthemic through to brooding and introspective.” (NME – July 2006)

 “Wow, what a listen….All tastes covered here, but the big choruses and toe tappers [of Living In The Dream, Misfit Lovers and Now’s The Time] are the stand out….” (iTunes – July 2006)

 “There are some decent tunes on this album....We’re thinking Muse. We’re thinking Jeff Buckley....” (NME - March 2006)
