A mutt of an album, where an ex-punk singer/songwriter explores the victories and downs of life, accompanied by some outlaw tales and some quick-witted stories. A healthy dose of alt-country with a side of folk-punk and gritty blues.
Notes
Spending a few years playing punk music was enough, and after that I wanted to explore everything that I had been ignoring for so long. I still try to preserve that same energy and desperation in what I do today. I'm just not a young kid full of anger and angst anymore, so I have to write what I know. Friends, loved ones, and my family are my new inspiration. These songs can be anywhere from praising someone for their good decisions to kicking myself in the teeth due to my own poor choices. I think there's something here for anyone like me who got burned out on punk rock and needed to let out something more clear, cathartic, and relatable. One day I'll wake up and write an outlaw country ballad, the next I'm strumming a G chord as fast as I can like I'm writing some folk-punk drinking song. It feels good to spit out all the fire that builds up inside you, and I hope that can help keep others' fires burning when they need it most.
