Description

Powerful yet subtle; not for boppers or bangers. Frost, Yeats, and Frye inform the lyrics and inspire some of the songs. The production has an analog punch and 70's range from acoustic to rock with country and blues flavors.

Notes

This is my third album, and Matt Rae, Master of the Telecaster, says it's my best. He is on two of the tracks. Maybe that's why. Seth Cashman does the percussion and drums on the album. He really dug into the project and added his experience and talent in large measure. Also, what ears! He was a demanding co-producer relentless in his mission to make the album worthy of the songs in terms of production and artwork. His art captures the spirit of the music and makes suggestions that complement the experience of the album. Dan Tressler adds his mastery on fiddle to "Down by the Salley Gardens" and infuses this song with energy and harmonies. Grab your partner, and get ready to rollick. That said, the lyrics provide some contrast to liveliness in that "she" is moving on and "he" is left in the lurch, all his own doing. Nobody's fault but his. The word "wistful" characterizes the title track. Its images conjure….well, I think Seth got it right.

“Glass Houses” is based on the old adage: “People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.” In spite of that solid advice, some folks chuck them with wild abandon, and retaliation is the upshot that shatters their walls. I could say more about all the songs, but the album really belongs to the listeners. I could tell you what I think it all means, and if you want me to, I will, but where's the fun in that? The album only means something if there are folks willing to engage it. I hope folks do!
