Just a few of the comments & reviews so far:-

Regarding The Track More Wanksta Than Gangsta, This Is Old Skool Hip Hop Straight Out Of Watford & I Very Much Like Her Emotional Directness & Performance.
Tom Robinson - BBC Introducing (6 Music)

Lionhart is what you call?...da bomb. Very real, very very good, a genre/gender bender. It's better than i first thought it was, there's something very noble & honest going on here tonight, maybe i just opened my ears.

ALBUM REVIEW - Mama Chill a UK rapper/storyteller has spent the last four years carefully crafting her new album “Nobody wants to know ya when ya Nobody”. In the process of putting this together she was told by Doctors a career in music was unrealistic due to her medical conditions Scoliosis, M.E Firbromyalgia & Osteoporosis. She didn’t listen to them and the result is this amazing new album blending elements of rap, hip hop and indie with a touch of 80’s flare. Lowdown Dirty Raw N street is a track that’s an in your face biography of Mama chill as she takes the listener on a journey through her past making it clear she is unafraid to let it all out and share who she is with the world. Listeners might find it easy to compare Mama Chill to pop artist Pink. She sings a series of confident verses like “ by the time I was walking I was walking with a strut” and constantly bursts into the unforgiving catchy chorus “ I like it lowdown Dirty Raw N Street” ”.

Lionhart opens with a sweet guitar arpreggio. Mama Chill enters the song with a series of spoken word verses. She recites, “I can come across as arrogant sometimes, I’m aware of it, got other stuff inside, just don’t wanna share it” This track is intimate and full of completely raw and honest poetry laced with a sweet melodic chorus behind calm humming and string excerpts. The album closes with a song called “Say” Ft Watford Gospel arts manna Community choir. This is an inspirational song that encourages listeners to say what they want to say before it’s too late. Mama Chill sings “Don’t stay tough forever, its never weak to show you care, its alright to feel like any other, so if you got a brother or someone else you call blood go tell them now, just how much their loved” This song is full of love and soul and listeners will be left feeling thankful and touched. All Mama Chills songs are Beautiful, empowering and spreading the message that anything is possible.

Album Review- Describing herself as an “Urban artist, songwriter, qualified dream therapist, freelance writer, and jack of all trades master of none” Mama Chill draws her influences from a number of genres including rap, indie, electronica and hip hop. Her album is certainly proof of that, each track veering from one musical style to another, so much so, it really shouldn’t work, but it does. Despite the sporadic choice of musical styles, there is something of a linear structure to the album; there is no abrupt change from one track to another ensuring that “Nobody Wants To Know Ya When Ya Nobody” flows perfectly. ”

Where Mama Chill really excels is on the tracks she covers although they’re hard to call covers, they’re completely re-worked, re-imagined, and it’s a pleasure to see that Mama Chill proudly places her stamp on the music without making them sound like a cheap rip off of the originals. Her version of Dolly Partons “I will Always Luv U” is pretty good too. She hasn’t got the vocal power of dolly or whitney but she pulls off the intro with ease During the track it shifts its musical focus completely, slows right down to become a laid back track which would not sound out of place on an Ibizia Chillout album. Remixing and rapping on the verses the breathy vocals surge forth and retreat like lapping waves, giving weight to her performance name. When you hear the same old rubbish clogging up the charts it’s a shame to think someone like Mama Chill remains unsigned, this album created off her own back is one to be proud of.

And as i sit here listening , it dawns on me how similiar her music is to the sweets i'm consuming, exciting, unusual & somewhat unexpected. Mama Chill is a force to be reckoned with.
