About Mark Scott's CD "Elevator"

Former Rich Rags (U.S.) and Inmates front man, folk-turned-hard rocker spans a decades-long arc as a composer, picking among songs he performs as a backdrop/ambient music artist on piano, often with MIDI and/or live accompaniment. The album is naturally more complex and dynamic that its live counterpart. It is "New Age" in that it has no vocals but is rock by any other sensibility. Seventeen upbeat piano-based songs (55 minutes) play well while going about life's rich pageantry - or cleaning the house.

Not all that keen on self-promotion, permit Mark to use quotes from those who have heard his works and been kind enough to provide feedback:

"After listening to your CD, I feel that this is a collection of mellow tunes just perfect for "day-dreaming", the kind of music that you can put on and let the troubles of the world just drift away as you kick back and relax."

"I loved it ... It inspired me."

"...all I can say is WOW! It's just wonderful."

"Nice music. Mellow, comforting. I could see a family picnic, kids playing with kites/bubble machines, a stroll over an arched creek bridge... Lots of components. Good job."

"When I listened I asked myself, 'if this played on the radio would I keep it on?' The answer is 'absolutely'."

"We were entertaining forty or fifty people, we put on your CD. Several people came up to me and my husband and asked 'who IS that?' ... just right for the crowd."

This album was constructed to be as universally enjoyed as is reasonably possible, with similarity yet diversity between songs. The music is multi-layered, mood-inducing, beautiful, subtle and interesting. It is not your father's "Easy Listening". Excellent to enjoy while walking/jogging with your iPod.

Best to you,
Arm's Length Records/Scottunes
