Description

Les Baton Rouge is one of the most influential and international bands from Portugal.
"Canal Express" EP celebrates the bands's 15 year anniversary with a new cutting-edge look at Indie Post Punk music.

Notes

"One of the most influential New Wave Art bands from Portugal since 1998. With Suspiria Franklyn, James Jacket and Bruno Quintino".

1998: Les Baton Rouge originated in the suburbs of Lisbon by Suspiria Franklyn and James Jacket. Partially inspired by the punk bands of the 1970s the two decided to form a new wave band.

1999: The band recorded two other demos and was invited to play all over Portugal.

2000: People start to realize Les Baton Rouge music as potentially marketable. They sign with Munster Records in Madrid/Spain and release the band’s first EP on vinyl, “Sexcentric” along with a tour around Spain.

2001: They sign with Elevator Music Records in New York/USA and release the band’s first LP, “Women Non-Stop” along with a tour around USA's East Coast.
From this moment on, the band was reaching the kind of level they have always wanted it.
European countries like Portugal, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland or England were also being taken by the storm.

2002: They move to Berlin/Germany, where they lived from 2002 till 2006. Dirk Handrich become their European manager and promoter and the band was consecutively on tour.
Elevator Music would also become the band’s manager, press agent and USA’s promoter up until 2004.

2003: They released the EP “Chloe Yurtz” (with Elevator Music Records). The band was invited to promote the single around USA with a major tour: three months and more than 50 shows from coast to coast.
“Chloé Yurtz” single was #1 in several radios and immediately got a top position at CMJ Charts.

2004: They release the second full-length “My Body-The Pistol” (also with Elevator Music Records). This time, the band already recorded in the States at Peter Katis’s Tarquin Studios outside New York, produced by the mythican name of Tim Kerr.
Another American tour was booked to promote it. This time was all over the East Coast with a special ending: SXSW Festival in Austin Texas.
The record was a hit all over the press and the main public and for the second time the band was able to reach a top position at CMJ Charts and have their name at the “Rock n Roll American History”.

2005: Peaches was promoting Les Baton Rouge’s sound during her DJ Sets. In that year, Steve Morell (from Pale Music International) introduced her to the band at Berlin’s Wild at Heart. They became good friends and Peaches invited Suspiria and James to hang out and make nice jam sessions.

2008/2009: Live performances at the Drop Dead Festival and Pride Festival.

2012: Canal Express Ep is released.
At the moment, Suspiria Franklyn, James Jacket and Bruno Quintino are working on new material.
