Notes
The London Tango Orchestra is the largest tango group in the country, a real “orquesta tipica" uniting leading UK tango musicians with players from Argentina. Many of the musicians have performed tango all over the world with well-known tangueros like Victor Hugo Villena, Jose Colangelo, Daniel Melingo, Juan Jose Mosalini…The orchestra was founded in 2009 by Caroline Pearsall and is first of its kind in the UK.
The orchestra performs music from the rich repertoire of tango, old and new, sharing its love of tango music, and promoting Argentine culture in the UK through concerts, dances (milongas), workshops and cultural exchanges with tango musicians from Europe and Argentina. Their performances so far include El Once Tango Club, Tango Federico, St James Church in Piccadilly, Ignite Concert Series at the Royal Albert Hall, the City of London Festival, Union Chapel and Tangoffs in Fleet. They were part of a tango documentary filmed by the BBC last year and several members recently appeared on the ITV series Mr Selfridge II. They will be playing in the Halle Tango Festival in Germany later this year and Chelsea Arts Club in London.
Dance to the classic tunes including those by Troilo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, D’Arienzo, and a host of others. Or sit back and relax listening to the melancholia of Piazzolla and Mederos. We promise an experience filled with passion and drama!
