CD Notes:
The time has come. For centuries, they tried to hold us back.
They made our instruments large and unwieldy, but we found a way. They invented a special clef to confuse us, but it didn’t work. They gave all the good stuff to the violin and cello, but we didn’t complain.
We bided our time … we waited patiently… and now the time has come.
It is time to put away the dreary elegies and dulcet pastorals. It is time to stop laughing politely at the viola jokes. It is time to let the world know what we’ve known all along; that the viola is the world’s most versatile and volatile, most mysterious and delirious, most soulful and rock ‘n’ roll-ful of all the string instruments.
It is time to unleash the beast!
