Description
Intimate and soulful, this is an exquisite rendering of the poetry of Rumi. Translated and read by Kabir and Camille Helminski to the accompaniment of traditional Sufi music, this album will attune you to the rhythms of Divine Beauty.
Notes
Rumi is a wide-open door for humanity. If we walk through that door we find ourselves in the Garden of Remembrance. We enter the sanctuary of Presence. We call him Mevlana, our master, because his heart is the matrix of our ecstasy. His spirituality has all the nuance of art. His state is holy freedom. Despite today's clashes of terror and irrationalities, a way is being prepared. We will one day stand before a Mirror and recognize our own beauty. We will one day glimpse the icon of a unified humanity.
As for what is on this recording: It came like a call to prayer as gulls circled minarets above the Bosphorus; echoed across a cove in Sydney; became soulful in a Philadelphia studio, and voiced itself in the hills outside Santa Cruz. Seldom have we felt like such instruments.
- Kabir Helminski
