Notes
Samba Caribe is the fourth CD containing songs written by Jimmy M. Salhany and performed by Christine Salhany and the Crossing Genres band. The previous three CDs were written and performed in the Folk-Rock (Time's Arrow), Jazz (Brushes with Jazz) and Country (Close to Country) genres. In this CD Jimmy explores the Samba and Caribe (Ska) genres. This music includes vocal performances by Christine and Jimmy, including some rap exchanges and exclamations during and at the end of some songs, offering an entertaining variation to the lyrical-melodic character of the music on this album. The music contains a strong emphasis on percussion, steel drum, rhythm and lead guitar, horns, flute and even cello. Other musicians besides Chris (vocals) and Jimmy (vocals, percussion, classical, rhythm and bass guitars) were Travis Potter (Trumpet) Tim Kasl (bass guitar and trombone), Nestor Herszbaum (Flute), Dave Downing (cello), Carlos Arnaldo Hernandez (percussion and trap set), Robin Cannon (bass guitar), and Andrew Malashock (rhythm and lead guitars). The music was recorded at the J. Garrett Studios in Omaha, NE.
