Cohesion is a five piece indie-rock band from the heart of Sunderland formed in the winter of 2010. They are very passionate about the music that they play, putting 110% and countless hours into perfecting their song writing and live performances. Their sound has been compared to bands such as Minus the Bear, Maps & Atlases, Biffy Clyro and Two Door Cinema Club. They are a creative group of musicians always thriving to convert ideas into great songs. The band consists of Matthew Watchman, lead singer and guitarist, Lewis Cooke, Guitarist, Jonathon Hall, guitarist, David Wright, Bassist, and Alex Baker performing as drummer.

Despite Cohesion’s style being compared to many of the above, the band isn’t afraid to challenge conventional stereotypes with their unique, fresh and enjoyable sound. The bands lyrics break their own boundaries also, focusing more on stories and morals rather than standard and predictable themes of modern hits. The striding of new ground was the basis for the entitlement of their fourth single “Names are for Stereotypes”, which lyrics allow the audience to create their own interpretation of the theme sung.

In their short time as a band, Cohesion has expanded across the local music scene, supporting such signed bands as Twister, The Headstart and Run from Robots on their UK tours. They have also graced the stage alongside fellow emerging talent as Collectors Club, We Beat the System, Liars lie! and In Oceans, at some of the most high profile venues in the region. These include The Riverside Newcastle, Independent, The Tyne Theatre, The Head of Steam, O2 Academy and the Sage Gateshead. Cohesion also reached the regional finals of ‘Live and Unsigned’ but due to work commitments, they were unable to fight for their place in the national finals and a slot at the O2 Arena in London.

The band has also received praise and airplay from radio stations such as BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and Spark FM.

Cohesion’s debut E.P 'Serene' is due for release on Friday 15th November 2013; which was produced by Anthony Snowdon.
