Description
The Eighth Wonder is The Arctic Zones 8th Album . Mixing elements of Dance Music with organic instrumentation . The Pedal Steel , Vocoder and Vintage synthesizers all give a unique throwback element to what is a very modern sounding recording .
Notes
The Arctic Zones 8th CD , the aptly titled "The Eighth Wonder" continues an exploration of vintage sounds meshed with modern pop sensibilities. It Begins with A Funk Driven track "Pop And Fresh" that brings Prince To Mind . "How Bad Do You Want it ?" is next , and is kind of like Daft Punk with a pedal steel Guitar . Shadows And Light is a nice mimnimal techno song , followed by another electronic pedal steel song "Always Something" " Fireworks " is a drum and bass track where the percussion actually sounds like a fireworks display . " Look At Me , Look At You " , " My Utopia" and " I Was A Teenage Martian Scoundrel" are very minimal electronic pieces that feature very nice melodic guitars. " You Are A Mighty Warrior" is a reggae tinged electronic piece . Among the 5 bonus cuts are 2 ambient Standouts " Reaction In D" and "Pretty Song In C Minor" . " Nightlife In Cupertino" is a short Indian influenced track . While earlier Arctic Zone albums were very eclectic , they perhaps were somewhat jarring at times switching genres abrubtly , The last few Arctic Zone albums , in particular "The Eight Wonder" are more cohesive , seamlessly mixing Electronic Music with Funk , Country and offering a variety of different electronic genres like ambient , techno and Drum and Bass. Think of it as organic electronic music with just the right blend of Machine and Soul.
