Description

Amazing instrumental latin fusion songs from the brazilian virtuoso guitar player Fabio Rizental.

Notes

The CD “At Nightfall” features original compositions and arrangements by Fabio Rizental (except the track “Fusion Salsa”, written with Alexandre Berreldi), produced by drummer Marcio Mazza, son of maestro Johnny Mazza, and mixed by the sound engineer Dudu Lauriano, with the rhythm tracks recorded “live” at Studio IREC, favoring thereby the authentic dialogue performance between the instruments. In it, Fabio’s guitar solos, following the jazz concept, are actually improvised. Created at the exact moment they were performed, gaining even more “value” because of the careful choice of timbres and sounds from his guitar.
“I have an approach of execution is often aggressive, influenced by guitarists such as EdVan Halen and Steve Vai, but also very comfortable transit between the blues and the jazz, always inspired by Jeff Beck and Pat Metheny,” he admits.
“Fast Tango”, song that opens the CD is a theme played in unison by virtuosos musicians and with great emphasis on Fabio’s guitar improvising through tonal changes and creative Mazza’s drumming.
“Fusion Salsa”, is a theme in a Cuban style, flavored with Brazilian harmonies. The highlight of the song is the marriage between the crystalline guitar solo with the hot Latin percussion.
“High Voltage”, is a Fusion theme with a vibrant Salsa beat.
“Boninha”, brings rich harmonie progressions, sophisticated chords, a soft melody and a vibe that resembles the Brazilian northeast countryside often marked by well played tambourine of the percussionist Mafran. Fabio’s guitar solo brings to the theme some dramaticity.
In “Brotherhood”, Fabio plays this beautiful melody with great precision and delicacy accompanied by impeccable Ivan Botticelli’s piano.
In “My friend Duke”, Fabio pays tribute to the great composer and conductor Duke Ellington, with a theme that was made on traditional jazz standards with amazing improvisations of the musicians. The saxophonist Zé Maria, overdubs Fabio’s guitar on the main theme and bangs on the sax improvisation.
“On this Road”, is a Samba Funk instrumental sewn with rock guitar solos making an excellent fusion of styles.
And finally, “At Nightfall,” music that carries the title of the CD, is full of emotional mood. It has a beautiful performance of Alexandre Berreldi playing acoustic bass with the bow. Fabio’s guitar takes us on a journey through the moments before the first lights that are turned on to illuminate the night.
