Description

A fusion of grimy nu trip hop, sleazy psychedelia, hypnotic beats and fuzzy guitar woven around, under and over evocative vocal melodies.

Notes

NATURE of the Beats is the debut EP from this electrodelic/nu trip hop trio who dwell in a British seaside town.
It was made across six months of much Guinness drinking, experimenting, laughter and emotion... with the odd shot thrown in for extra creative juice.
Consisting of multi-instrumentalists Luke Mersey and Martin King and vocalist/lyricist Kelly Buckley, Glass Brides formed in February 2013.
Their sound is a fusion of electro pop, trip hop inspired psychedelia, with tracks built via a brick by brick, three man process.
Kelly said of their song writing process: "It happens in various ways, but usually will start with trying out beats or riffs until something provokes a top line vocal melody.
"We then build up and weave the music and arrangement around, above and under that, with Luke and Martin playing a variety of instruments, all while the vocal melody continues to evolve across the song as it grows.
"We record a neat blueprint for the studio as we go along.
"The lyrics are then added to fit the rhythm of the vocal-melody pattern, the subject of the song inspired by the mood and vibe of the music.
"Most often, with the exception of Parasite and Real on Nature of the Beats, we don't tend to write in a classic verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus way - it tends to be more free and unstructured, 'more of a groove' as Luke will say.
"Finally we take the blueprint into a professional studio where it is polished up, usually over more Guinness."
