Description

From the San Francisco underground comes the anticipated new album hailed for its dark'n'dirty rhythms and prophetic lyrics. Hear what the future will sound like once SEXKULT initiate you into a world of uncharted eroticism and dancefloor hysteria.

Notes

SEXKULT is a new concept project written and produced by San Francisco DJ & musician, Cecil Grey. Mixing elements of electronica with alternative rock, Cecil has created an original strain of modern music that will appeal to fans of Underworld, Love & Rockets, and Massive Attack. Like these artists, Cecil has blended the best of underground dance music production techniques with lyrical songwriting.

This debut album is a testament of Cecil Grey's previous 12 years of experience as a vocalist and songwriter. He began his career at 15 as lead guitarist in the Los Angeles live band The Thorns, co-writing and playing opening slots for Christian Death and other luminous gothic rock acts. In 1994 he ventured into electronic music as a collaborator and vocalist with ex-Machines of Loving Grace members Lost Prophet, achieving radio play on local college stations. He then relocated to San Francisco to become involved with the underground drum'n'bass dance scene, and became a featured writer for the electronic magazine Urbansounds.com. After DJing extensively in the states as DJ Panic, Cecil Grey began producing original tracks, including "Operator" and "Highway 2 Hell", which were played by heavyweight DJs Dara and DB of Breakbeat Science Records in New York. A song from The Utmost In album, titled "I'm Your Beast", was recently selected to be included in the soundtrack of the DVD release of the independent film Mango Kiss (forthcoming).

The Utmost In was conceived in 2002 as a concept album, telling a story of disillusionment and self-doubt in a world overwhelmed by conflicting visions of the future. The character in this story is lost, wandering in a cloud of confusion and chaos. He finds a glimmer of hope, a vision of his highest ideal, that seems to be an answer to every question. But alas, it ends up being just another illusion... In a moment of complete despair, he finally opens himself up to every possibility and eventually finds fulfillment of the original vision of his dreams.

Sexkult is more than just a studio project. A supporting band is presently being formed to promote this project and evolve from the standard electronica performance into an unpredictable live experience that brings the music on this album to life. The Utmost In is bound to penetrate the uppermost regions of the present musical landscape.

(Note: This album is currently only available in CD-R format. The highest quality materials have been used, but some older CD/DVD players may not accept CD-R discs. Try one in your player to make sure before purchasing! Thanks. -- Cecil G.)
