Notes

Singer/Songwriter Bill Rotella has been writing songs and performing with his bands Baywood, 11:11 and Dakota for almost 30 years. His fans will now have a chance to hear this great music again with the re-release of the music of Baywood and Dakota. Bill is also now releasing his first solo CD, "Gates of Change". This new CD brings the evolution of his writing styles together in an eclectic and diverse collection of songs utilizing acoustic, electric, pedal steel, flamenco, and slide guitars, mandolin, viola, piano, B3 organ, congas and flute!

Baywood is a six-piece southern-pop band that started up in the 80s and is still performing. They feature acoustic, electric, and pedal steel guitars, three-part vocal harmonies and powerful lead vocals from front man Ronny Lee. They have performed throughout Los Angeles and were the opening band for Poco, Pablo Cruise, Lacy J. Dalton, Dave Mason and The Ventures. Their music appeared in the movies Born to Race and Three Days Blind. In the late 80s they evolved into the band 11:11. They were produced by Pat Glasser (Night Ranger) and Bill Pfordgerusher (Ambrosia) and replaced the pedal steel guitar with keyboards, becoming more rock-pop. Their songs can be heard in the movies Action U.S.A and Three Days Blind.

In the early 90s, Budweiser, Fender, GHS Strings and Zildjian cymbals became the sponsors of Bills new and current 4-piece acoustic band, Dakota. They have performed in Northern Europe and the Western United States. Their CDs include Dakota(1994) Once Around the Sun(1998) and The Collection(2008). Their songs have been featured in the movies Instant Trauma and Three Days Blind.

Bill is from a family of successful musicians. His father, Johnny Rotella, is a well-known saxophone player, studio musician and songwriter. He played with Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, recorded with Steely Dan, Frank Zappa, Neil Diamond and has had his songs recorded by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Doris Day to name a few. Bills uncle is the famous Big Band leader, Jerry Gray. Jerry was Glenn Millers and Artie Shaws arranger and he wrote "Chattanooga Choo-Choo", "Pennsylvania 6-5000",and "String of Pearls". Geri Rotella-Rotter, Bill's sister, is an LA studio musician and concert flutist. She has recorded with John Williams, Barbara Steisand, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra and played on over 400 film scores. Bill collaborates with his family on "Gates of Change". His sister Geri (flute) and daughter Brianna (flute and vocals) both perform on "Once Upon A Love" and his father plays flute on "Live".
