Description
Firing on all six, Canadian multi-instrumentalist Shane Gaalaas’ first ever all-instrumental offering ‘Bitter Suites From The Red Room’ is an eye opening multiverse of styles touching on everything from prog/fusion to cutting edge modern rock and metal.
Notes
Hot on the heels of 2014’s “Ascend”, drummer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter SHANE GAALAAS is turning things up a notch on his latest solo venture, “Bitter Suites From The Red Room”, his first ever all-instrumental album. "It’s been a dream of mine to do my own instrumental record and take on the task of playing all the instruments. I had an absolute blast writing, playing lead guitar, bass and messing around with soft synths.”
Written, engineered, produced and mixed by Gaalaas at his Los Angeles area studio, "Bitter Suites From The Red Room" is an eclectic convergence of modern rock, metal, and progressive influences which reflect Gaalaas’ open minded “anything goes” musical approach and appreciation for a wide variety of styles. Handling all drums, programming, and rhythm guitars as well as the bulk of bass and lead guitars, Gaalaas also invited a stellar cast of friends to the Red Room. “Tales From A Fantastic Lumbar” features co-writer/keyboardist Peter Fernandes and virtuoso bass work from Ric Fierabracci (PLANET X, CHICK COREA). Elsewhere Grammy Award winning guitarist Tak Matsumoto (B’z) shines on “Grind 2.0 (The Salacious Elixir)” alongside keyboard ace Ed Roth (BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, GLENN HUGHES). Gaalaas’ COSMOSQUAD band mate Jeff Kollman contributes lead guitar on “Wherever Giorgio Dare Roam” while Corey McCormick (CHRIS CORNELL, MAGNETICO) plays bass on the album’s jazzy closer “Song For Dale.”
