Notes

JEFFERSON GALE KILGORE

I was born in Big Spring, Texas, in the Broadway Courts March 20, 1940, and attended Big Spring schools. In high school I played end for the Big Spring Steers football team. I graduated in 1958 and went to Howard County Junior College, graduating from there in 1960. I married Barbara Sue Harris on March 7, 1959.

I went to the University of Houston, earning a Bachelors Degree in Science/Biology in 1962. I then graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1966.

I served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, serving in Vietnam September 7, 1967 to September 7, 1968. I was awarded the Bronze Star.

I came back home to Big Spring, Texas, in 1968 and, listen, "There ain't nothing like home!” I opened my practice in Big Spring where I still reside. My wife and I will celebrate our 50th anniversary next year.

While I was in Vietnam, I learned to play the guitar. When I came back to Big Spring, I started playing in area nightspots. I write a lot of my own music. I've cut lots of records, tapes, CDs, cassettes, and videos. I had a television show on KMID-TV in Midland back in the 1970s. I never hit the national limelight, but I still play and write music. I also try to help the songwriters of today by helping them put demos together.

I've been an optometrist since 1966 and have been examining eyes in Big Spring since 1969. I don't have any plans to leave or retire so I'll probably die in Big Spring. I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys and gals in September.
